M. Frances Foster

Designer, maker and denim enthusiast
based in the middle of the map.

Here I share various visual exercises,
new works, scrapshots of places and things; evidences of life and living
in St. Louis, U.S.A.

A complicated, romantic thing involving
paper scraps, stringed instruments
and phases of the moon

We work in the dark.
We do what we can.
We give what we have.
Our doubt is our passion.
Our passion is our task.
The rest is the madness of art.

*recent work -- identity: Lonesome Traveler

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of designing an identity system for Lonesome Traveler, a collection of menswear accessories—namely neckties—handmade by Jenny Hill, here in St. Louis. I worked alongside Jenny to develop a brand family of icons and a custom script to complement her handsome line of ties that she can be found selling at craft shows most often in and around St. Louis and Chicago. And of course on Etsy! I've shared a few more images as a case study over on my new portfolio site, here.
All images here, I've taken in my makeshift photo studio, with the exception of the newlyweds, of course. Go get you a tie! // /
