We are united
by all sorts of facts,
a divine ordinance,
or something like that,
we are long,
maybe fourteen feet
stretched out,
and together we know
thousands of miles
worth of information.

Into the Evening

Lettering exerpt from Type: A Visual History of Typefaces and Graphic Styles 1628-1900; images by me

I've always found the printed letter to be an unflawed artform. To try and understand the relationship between each shape is fascinating. After admiring loads of handrawn labors across the land, why not try my hand at some of my own!
Cutting, merging, aligning, taping, drawing, inking, erasing...truly one of the greatest escapes.

Oh, a note for those dabbling in depicting.
In my experience thus far, a nice beer and nicer music are necessities...you'll really feel them in the curves and ligatures.
