Having met in Kindergarten, Corey and I grew up alongside each other and have come to be great friends. He has a contagious energy; our conversations always race, seeming to skew towards big ideas but still grounded in the practicable principles of design. We've always been eager to aid each other in continuing to grow as creatives and thinkers. It is exciting to see someone match his energy so well. Stephanie is an incredibly driven and skilled hairstylist and new friend. Together, they just make sense.

I've had the pleasure of creating the materials to announce and celebrate the wedding of Stephanie and Corey, which will take place this September on the roof of the City Museum – a truly unique “art-chitectural” marvel crafted with found objects by the late Bob Cassilly in (and on) the old International Shoe Building in downtown St. Louis. This will be the very first wedding to be held on the roof and, thus, the idea —Atop the City—seemed to us like a fun theme to explore when planning the wedding and designing the printed goods.

The piece shown here is the very first of the printed goods, the Save the Date. These were hand stamped on Crane's Lettra using (3) custom rubber stamps. We chose to illustrate a Ferris wheel because of the rooftops main attraction: a restored, revived, and revolving four-story Ferris wheel that offers a one-of-a-kind view of the city. The goal was to hint where the event was to take place, without giving it away so that recipients would visit the wedding website to get further information.

I've been consciously trying to take more film photos. These are some from the last couple of rolls. The last one is on the side of the garage at my parent's house, going back to Mom's garden. Dad is putting in a solid brick walkway that is really pretty. Maybe eventually I'll take a few rolls of their house and all of Mom's collections to share, I see new things every time I am back.

I'm planning to share some shots from the Art of the Sign show I went to over the weekend, as well as some recent work, too. I've been busy!
Also, If you haven't, you should listen to the new Spiritualized album. It's been on repeat for a week and getting better each round.

Based on found photographs of abandoned structures neglected by man and destroyed by the weather, Ofra Lapid's small scale models can be likened to the domestic still life photographs of Laura Letinsky. Alluding to human presence, without including any actual figures.

Letinsky photographs the remains of the table so as to investigate the precarious relationships between ripeness and decay, delicacy and awkwardness, control and haphazardness, waste and plenitude, pleasure and sustenance. What is looked at is "after the fact," what (ma)lingers, what persists, and by inference, what is gone. *
