M. Frances Foster

Designer, maker and denim enthusiast
based in the middle of the map.

Here I share various visual exercises,
new works, scrapshots of places and things; evidences of life and living
in St. Louis, U.S.A.

A complicated, romantic thing involving
paper scraps, stringed instruments
and phases of the moon

We work in the dark.
We do what we can.
We give what we have.
Our doubt is our passion.
Our passion is our task.
The rest is the madness of art.

what's next?

The opening went extremely well, and I'm excited about figuring out next steps for The Virginia House.

More on that later - for now a couple random photos from a trip to Columbia a few weeks ago.

The Virginia House

I am now the official co-owner of an Art Gallery along with my good friend, Dan Peskorse.

We're talking business license, money orders, hearings, inspections, the old court house shenanigans, scrubbing, painting, concepting, drinking...it is finally coming together and we are just getting to the fun part – which we cannot wait for.

We are unbelievably excited to open our door to the public on October 17th, 2009! (click to see the grand opening flyer)
It's getting down to the wire....

Colorado nine

G.Maur and I ventured to Colorado for the Donahoe wedding, so we did it proper and stayed a week!

The lowdown...climbing up the face of a Rocky Mountain(!), antiques, Beau Jo's, Aubrie Dawn, beautiful wedding, dresses, jorts, the pinnacle of picnics, Colorado symphony orchestra at Red Rocks, white water rafting, Geoff with a mouthful of Puder, downtown Boulder, Denver and Idaho Springs, pineapple upside-down pancake, tubing +/or failing at water sports repeatedly, New Belgium, O'Dell and The Southern Sun Breweries, nighttime jaunts, maps, lost lets turn around, Molly Brown House, Boulder bars, having to sign my name 3 times so the bouncer would believe the black-haired broad on the license was me, polaroids, bruises, burns, don't wanna go home.

Such a beautiful place. I have a million more photos, but I'll spare you.

New work on the horizon. Pun intended?
