Here I share various visual exercises,
new works, scrapshots of places and things; evidences of life and living

A complicated, romantic thing involving
paper scraps, stringed instruments
and phases of the moon

We work in the dark.
We do what we can.
We give what we have.
Our doubt is our passion.
Our passion is our task.
The rest is the madness of art.

Neil Young Tumbleweed

We welcomed our healthy, handsome baby boy on New Years Eve; wide eyed and alert as ever. Hard to believe the strong and long little human that lay silent before us was here and he was ours. The days since have been slow and shushed, short and sweet. We're learning everything we can about him, trying our best to keep him as comfortable and happy as can be, in between a series of short naps. Jon and I listened to Neil Young's Storytone (solo version)—just he and I—in the delivery room after we'd been in there a good 24 hours already and things were finally progressing. I'll never forget the feeling in those moments and am grateful to have had him by my side. I can't imagine loving any more and am looking forward to it all. —–

Baby Bonham: The Neutral Nursery

sleeping fox pillow / eye eye poster / bordered rug / cowspot sheets / crib

I'll probably eventually post new work and design related things again sometime, but for now I'm a bit consumed with baby—so! This is a moodboard I'd made a bit ago for little mans womb. I found myself into neutral colors, classic shapes, lines, and textures, with pops of color here and there (surprise). This is the exact crib we ended up going with (after about 6 months of me thinking I'd be getting the sacred stokke, I realized that'd just be ridiculous because it'd likely be the only thing in the room because of its pricetag). I'm glad we went with this one afterall; I'm really digging the grey. Otherwise I'm trying to keep it simple and not overdo it on cute (I say that but if I stumbled upon 100 wooden toys tomorrow I'd likely have to get them all). I did find a perfect little corner bookshelf at an estate sale last week (for $9!) thats gonna work great in his tiny space once its painted—its currently black and pink which is no fun for anyone. Hoping to share some photos as soon as the stars align and I can find the time. All for now —- xo

scrapshots lately: quiet hours

photos from my instagram

Trying to savor the quiet around here lately, anticipating our baby boy any day now...

"...When we choose to be parents, we accept another human being as part of ourselves, and a large part of our emotional selves will stay with that person as long as we live. From that time on, there will be another person on this earth whose orbit around us will affect us as surely as the moon affects the tides." —Fred Rogers

Baby Shower No. O2

Well, just as I was gettin pretty alright at being showered, I ran out of em! I think maybe four baby showers is somekind of an unspoken max, though..? The photos above are from the shower a few of my best galfriends hosted (Western themed of course). If you're ever in need of a stylist in the St. Louis area, my great friend Katie—who was kind enough to host us in her amazing, historic home—is a great one. I of course only took a few detail photos before everyone started arriving and really wish I would've gotten some shots of all my galfriends in one spot (doh), but theres really too much going on to worry about taking photos at these things anyway. They were all so much fun. I feel so lucky to have such great, creative, and generous friends and family. Not to mention a pretty good handful that share my sense of humor and style—this baby is already set with plenty of denim, great music and at least one hysterical hand puppet.

We are loaded with all kindsa cute over here, you guys, I can hardly handle it.
And we're more than anxious to see our babe's face for the first time. Five more weeks...
